ABSTRACT

Graves′ ophthalmopathy(GO) is an autoimmune disease closely related to thyroid diseases. Clinical manifestations of GO are various, making it hard to be diagnozed and treated. There are a number of treatments available clinically, however etiological treatment remains scarce. The choice of treatment, the evaluation of therapeutic effect and the prediction of patients′ outcomes should be rooted in the evaluation of patients′ condition. In this review, the clinical characteristics of GO were analyzed, and key points of assessment including risk factors, clinical activity, disease severity, quality of life and psychological status were also proposed. Clinicians are encouraged to shed more focus on the assessment of GO.

ABSTRACT

Our recent studies demonstrated that the natural product nobiletin (NOB) served as a promising multidrug resistance (MDR) reversal agent and improved the effectiveness of cancer chemotherapy . However, low aqueous solubility and difficulty in total synthesis limited its application as a therapeutic agent. To tackle these challenges, NOB was synthesized in a high yield by a concise route of six steps and fourteen derivatives were synthesized with remarkable solubility and efficacy. All the compounds showed improved sensitivity to paclitaxel (PTX) in P-glycoprotein (P-gp) overexpressing MDR cancer cells. Among them, compound exhibited water solubility 280-fold higher than NOB. A drug-resistance A549/T xenograft model showed that at a dose of 50 mg/kg co-administered with PTX (15 mg/kg), inhibited tumor growth more effective than NOB and remarkably increased PTX concentration in the tumors P-gp inhibition. Moreover, Western blot experiments revealed that inhibited expression of NRF2, phosphorylated ERK and AKT in MDR cancer cells, thus implying of multiple mechanisms to reverse MDR in lung cancer.

ABSTRACT

Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy(TAO) is the most common orbital disease in the clinic.The ocular surface damage in TAO can be commonly seen and does great harm to visual function, which includes conjunctival congestion, edema, dry eye and exposure keratitis.Several cases can cause corneal ulcers, and even corneal perforation and blindness.Many studies have shown that the increase of lacrimal gland volume, the pathological changes of lacrimal gland tissue and the changes of tear secretion and composition especially the increase of inflammatory factors can be seen in TAO patients.These are key factors for TAO-related ocular surface damage.The analysis of the changes in the tear biomarkers of TAO patients is helpful for the staging and treatment of the disease, and can be used as one of the indicators of the differential diagnosis.This article reviews the types and clinical significance of tear biomarkers in TAO patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the effects of interleukin-17A (IL-17A) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) on CD34 - orbital fibroblasts (OFs) in patients with Graves ophthalmopathy (GO), and to explore the pathogenesis of GO. Methods:Orbital adipose connective tissue and lacrimal gland tissue of 5 patients with GO were collected during orbital decompression surgery.These tissue was cultured by tissue explant culture method.CD34 - OFs were enriched by immunomagnetic beads after passage and expansion.The cultured cells were divided into transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) group, TGF-β+ 10 ng/ml IL-17A group, TGF-β+ 100 ng/ml IL-17A group, TGF-β+ 1 ng/ml IFN-γ group and TGF-β+ 5 ng/ml IFN-γ group.The fibrosis of the cells was induced with 5 ng/ml TGF-β and then was treated with different concentrations of IL-17A or IFN-γ according to grouping.The expression of fibronectin, collagen type Ⅰ, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor-1 (TIMP-1) in CD34 - OFs derived from both orbital adipose connective tissue and lacrimal gland tissue were detected by Western blot.This study protocol was approved by an Ethic Committee of Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital (SH9H-2020-TK195-1) and written informed consent was obtained from each patient. Results:For CD34 - OFs derived from orbital adipose connective tissue, the relative expressions of fibronectin, type Ⅰ collagen, α-SMA and TIMP-1 protein were significantly higher in the TGF-β+ 100 ng/ml IL-17A group than those in the TGF-β group and TGF-β+ 10 ng/ml IL-17A group (all at P<0.05); the relative expressions of fibronectin, type Ⅰ collagen and α-SMA in the cells in the TGF-β+ 5 ng/ml IFN-γ group were significantly lower than those in the TGF-β group and the TGF-β+ 1 ng/ml IFN-γ group (all at P<0.05). For CD34 - OFs derived from lacrimal gland, the relative expressions of fibronectin, type Ⅰ collagen, α-SMA and TIMP-1 protein in the TGF-β+ 100 ng/ml IL-17A group were significantly higher than those in the TGF-β group and the TGF-β+ 10 ng/ml IL-17A group (all at P<0.05); the relative expressions of fibronectin, type Ⅰ collagen and TIMP-1 protein in the TGF-β+ 1 ng/ml IFN-γ group were significantly higher than those in the TGF-β group and TGF-β+ 5 ng/ml IFN-γ group, and the relative expression of α-SMA protein was significantly higher than that in the TGF-β+ 5 ng/ml IFN-γ group (all at P<0.05). Conclusions:High level of IL-17A can promote the fibrosis of TGF-β-induced CD34 - OFs, and high level of IFN-γ inhibits the fibrosis of TGF-β-induced CD34 - OFs.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand the mechanism of chemotherapy resistance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma under hypoxic conditions through the perspective of protein SUMOylation modification.@*Methods@#Cobalt chloride (CoCl2) was used to establish the hypoxic model of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE1 cells. Then, the cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry, and the expression level of small ubiquitin-related modifier(SUMO) and cyclin-dependent kinase 6 (CDK6) proteins were detected by western blotting. MTT assay was used to determine the median lethal dose (IC50) of cancer cells against cisplatin, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) level.@*Results@#The cell cycle of CNE1 induced by hypoxia was arrested in G0/G1 phase.The results of Western blot showed that the protein expression level of CDK6 in CNE1 cells was lower than that in the control group (0.83±0.25 vs. 0.43±0.21, t=14.67, P=0.003). The protein level of conjugated SUMO1 was significantly lower than that in the control group (2.69±0.48 vs. 1.38±0.31, t=17.22, P=0.001), while the level of free SUMO1 protein was significantly higher than that in the control group (2.01±0.43 vs. 2.60±0.59, t=15.45, P=0.002).The LC50 of CNE1 cells in the control group was significantly lower than that in the hypoxic group (29.44 μg/ml vs. 97.72 μg/ml, t=12.79, P=0.001). After CNE1 cells received 50 μg/ml cisplatin for 48 h, the LDH content in the supernatant of the control group was significantly higher than that in the hypoxic group ((541.49±64.59) ng/ml vs. (234.67±41.03) ng/ml, t=11.94, P=0.007)). The apoptosis rate of CNE1 cells in the control group was significantly higher than that in the hypoxic group ((76.64±5.37)% vs. (32.84±4.77) ng/ml, t=8.49, P=0.003)).@*Conclusion@#Hypoxia can dissociate the covalent modification of CDK6 and SUMO1, inhibit cell cycle and increase the chemotherapy resistance of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the serotype distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae), Haemophilus influenzae (H. influenzae) and Moraxella catarrhalis (M. catarrhalis) isolates collected from nasopharyngeal swabs from Uygur children in Kashi.@*Methods@#Nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from inpatient Uygur children aged from 1 month to 5 years with respiratory infections from the pediatric department, the First People's Hospital of Kashi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Antimicrobial susceptibilities of the isolates were determined with E-test and KB disk diffusion methods. The production of β-lactamase was detected for H. influenzae and M. catarrhalisisolates using nitrocefin disc method. Quellung test and latex agglutination test were adopted to identify serotypes of S. pneumoniae and H. influenzae isolates.@*Results@#Forty-seven S. pneumoniae, 13 H. influenzae and 16 M. catarrhalis isolates were detected. All of the 47 S. pneumoniae isolates were sensitive to parenteral penicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, vancomycin and levofloxacin; the susceptibility rates to cefotaxime, imipenem and chloramphenicol were 94% (44/47), 89% (42/47), and 98% (46/47). The resistance rate to erythromycin was 74% (35/47). The most common serotype of S. pneumoniae was serotype 19A (10 strains, 21%). The coverage rate of 13-valent conjugate vaccine (PCV13) was 70% (33/47). None of the 13 H. influenzae isolates could be typed. They were highly susceptible to tested β-lactams antibiotics, except ampicillin. Only one H. influenzae isolate could produce β-lactamase, and two isolates were identified as β-lactamase-negative-ampicillin-resistant ones. The sixteen M. catarrhalis isolates were all positive in β-lactamase detection, but sensitive to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cephalosporins and meropenem.@*Conclusions@#In Kashi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonmous Region, S. pneumoniae isolates from Uygur children were highly sensitive to parenteral penicillin and other β-lactams antibiotics. H. influenzae isolates from Uygur children were highly susceptible to amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, cephalosporins and ciprofloxacin. All M. catarrhalis isolates from Uygur children could produce β-lactamase, but were sensitive to the enzyme inhibitors and cephalosporins.

ABSTRACT

Objective · To improve the surgical procedure of correcting upper eyelid retraction.Methods · Patients suffering upper eyelid retraction of 2-5 mm caused by thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy were treated with modified levator lengthening technique in Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital (Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine,China) from July 2013 to December 2014.Results· Of the 34 patients underwent the modified levator lengthening surgery for upper eyelid retraction correction,there were 7 males and 27 females.After 6 months,upper eyelid retraction got fully resolved in 25 cases and partly improved in 9 cases.The palpebral fissure height demonstrated an average decrease of 3.7 mm (P=0.000).Patient's ocular discomfort such as photophobia and tearing were either cured or improved.Conclusion · Modified levator lengthening surgery can effectively correct upper eyelid retraction,improve the patient's appearance and cure their ocular discomfort.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the significance of cytometric beads array(CBA)in the detection of Th1/Th2/Th17 cytokine in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.Methods The levels of 7 cytokines (IL-2,IL-4,IL-6,IL-10,TNF,IFN-γ and IL-17A) were detected by CBA according to the instruction of BD CBA Human Th1/Th2/Th17 Cytokine Kit(BD Biosciences,USA)in the serum of 98 patients with tuberculosis(38 sputum-smear positive and 60 sputum-smear negative)and 79 healthy individuals.Then analyze the relationship and differences among these groups.Results Except IL-17A,the level of IL-2,IL-4,IL-6,IL-10,TNF,IFN-γwas higher in the patients group than control group;As to IL-2,IL-4,IL-10 and IFN-γ,the sputum-smear positive group had a higher level than control group,but the sputum-smear positive group had no difference with sputum-smear negative group.Com-pared with sputum-smear negative group,the sputum-smear positive group have a higher level of IL-6 and TNF.Conclusion IL-6 and TNF can be used to monitor the prognosis of tuberculosis.Meanwhile,CBA is sensitive,could detect several cytokines once with less sample consumption and time,thus could be applied for the monitor of tuberculosis progress.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#Applying Chinese version of categories of auditory performance (CAP) to assess cochlear implant (CI) recipients of prelingual deaf and test the reliability of Chinese version of CAP.@*METHOD@#Fifty CI recipients of prelingual deaf were interviewed by a parent and a speech therapist using Chinese version of CAP. Kappa coefficient analysis was applied to test the reliability of Chinese version of CAP.@*RESULT@#Thirty-five of 50 cases (70%) were found completely coincident, 12 cases (24%) were one category different, 3 cases (6%) were 2 categories different. Kappa coefficient was 0.624.@*CONCLUSION@#Chinese version of CAP was found reliable and useful to evaluate auditory performance of prelingual deaf pediatric after cochlear implantation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the audiometry and otoacoustic emissions in patients with posterior circulation ischemia(PCI) .Methods Forty patients treated by neurologists were selected as the experimental group who re_ceived pure tone audiometry ,tympanometry ,otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and distortion products otoacoustic emis_sions (DPOAE) examinations .Thirty healthy objects were chosen as the control group .The data from the PCI groups and the control group were compared using the SPSS 14 .0 software .ResuIts The difference in pure tone thresholds across 125 to 8 000 Hz between the PCI group and the control group was not statistically significant (P>0 .05) .In the PCI patients ,the prevalence of TEOAE was only 47 .5% ,significantly different from that of in the control group .The prevalence of DPOAE at 0 .5~8 kHz were between 57 .9% ~77 .6% in PCI patients ,and the amplitudes of DPOAE were reduced significantly (P<0 .05) .ConcIusion Cochlear damages can occur to patients with PCI ,especially in the high frequency range .These results suggest that OAE can be used as an important diag_nostic test for patients with PCI ,and might be helpful for the location diagnosis of PCI .

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of sound therapy and psychological counseling on chronic tinnitus .Methods Two hundred and thirty - two cases of chronic tinnitus patients were treated with sound therapy and psychological counseling in this study .The time course of treatment was 12 months .Tinnitus Evalua‐tion Questionnaire(TEQ) was filled out before sound therapy ,3 ,6 and 12 months after the therapy to evaluate the effects .Results After the therapy ,the patients had a significant improvement in tinnitus symptoms .Before the therapy ,178 patients had severe tinnitus ,while after the therapy ,this number decreased obviously .In the end of treatment there were only 36 cases ,with severe tinnitus(15 .52% ) .After the 6 months treatment ,the effective rate was 79 .31% ,after 12 months the effective rate was 86 .21% .Conclusion Sound therapy and psychological counse‐ling are effective treatments for chronic tinnitus ,and the effects are stable and durable .

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To analyze the clinical characteristics, prognosis and molecular biological changes of tonsillar squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Retrospective analysis of 61 TSCC cases treated from January 1999 to December 2012. Demographic data and clinical charts, including histologic grade of tumor, treatment and outcome of the patients, were reviewed.Human papillomavirus (HPV)-DNA were detected using SPF10-DNA enzyme immunoassay and LiPA genotyping method. Expressions of p16 and p53 proteins were examinated by immunohistochemistry. Survival rate was calculated with SPSS 19.0 software using the Kaplan-Meier method.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>There were 55 males and 6 females, with a median age of 57 years. Of the 61 TSCC, 21 were with well differentiation, 19 with moderate differentiation and 21 with poor differentiation, including 7 patients at stage II, 10 at stage III and 44 at stage IV. HPV-positive rate of TSCC was 29.5% (18/61) and high-risk HPV-16 subtype accounted for 72.2% (13/18). The percentage of famel patients in HPV-positive TSCC was higher than HPV-negative TSCC (22.2% vs 4.7%).HPV-positive TSCC was more common in non-smoking patients (50.0% vs 79.1%, χ(2) = 5, 155, P = 0.023) and non-drinking patients (27.8% vs 51.2%, χ(2) = 4.346, P = 0.037). HPV-positive TSCC mostly presented with high expression of p16 protein (88.9% vs 16.3%, χ(2) = 28.481, P = 0.000), and low expression of p53 protein (72.7% vs 46.5%, χ(2) = 5.028, P = 0.025). The prognosis of patients with HPV-associated TSCC was significantly better than non-HPV-associated TSCC, and The 3-year and 5-year overall survival rates of patients with HPV-positive TSCC were higher than those of patients with HPV-negative TSCC (87.7% vs 49.5% and 78.9% vs 33.0%, respectively).</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>HPV-associated TSCC had unique clinicopathological and molecular biological features, showing better prognosis compared to HPV-negative TSCC.</p>

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To explore the values of vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) in the diagnosis of vestibular nerve impairment in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Forty-two cases (84 ears) of diabetes mellitus patients and 42 cases (84 ears) normal subjects as the control group were enrolled from 2014 to 2015.Both the patients and normal subjects underwent conventional air-conducted ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) and cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP) in bilateral ears.The results were compared between the patients and normal subjects. A commercially available software package, SPSS19.0, was used for statistical analysis.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>In 84 ears of the normal subjects, oVEMP was present in 70 ears, the educible rate was 83.3% (70/84). cVEMP was present in 74 ears, and the educible rate was 88.1% (74/84). In 84 ears of the diabetes mellitus patients, oVEMP was present in 49 ears, with the educible rate of 58.3% (49/84). cVEMP was present in 52 ears, with the educible rate of 61.9% (52/84). The educible rate in the control group was significantly higher than the diabetic group (oVEMP: χ(2)=12.71, P<0.05; cVEMP: χ(2)=15.37, P<0.05). In the diabetic group, the mean values of both oVEMP and cVEMP P1, N1 latencies were significantly longer when compared to the control group (P<0.05). No significantly statistical difference was found in oVEMP and cVEMP parameters (threshold, latency interval and amplitude) between groups (P>0.05).</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Vestibular nerve was impaired in diabetes mellitus patients in some degree. VEMP examinations could be useful in the diagnosis of vestibular nerve impairment in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective The purpose of this study was to construct a rat model of luteal phase defect ( LPD) with mifepristone ( RU486 ) and investigate the improving effect of Bushen Zhuyun Recipe ( BZR ) on the gonad axis morphology of the LPD rat . Meth ods We established rat models of LPD by giving RU486 at 1 mL/100 g followed by treatment with BZR at 0.4 (medium dose) or 1.2 mL/100g ( high dose ) .Then we observed the changes of morphology of the hypothalamus pituitary ovary uterus . Results Electron microscopy revealed hypothalamic mitochondria vacuolization , degranulation of rough endoplasmic reticulum , dissolved nuclear membrane , and decreased secretory granules , while light microscopy exhibited slightly reduced density of pituitary cells , karyopyknosis of some of the cells ,and cytoplasmic vacuolization in the model rats .Electron microscopy also showed obvious shrinkage of cell nuclei , chromatin condensation , disordered cell arrangement , swelling mitochondrial cavity , and formation of vacuoles in the pituitary anterior lobe, while light microscopy also manifested increased ovarian follicular atresia , reduced granule cell layers and corpora lutea , thinned endometrial layers , decreased uterine glands of the tube wall , reduced glandular cavity , and increased interstitial collagen fibers .After BZR treatment, the number and volume of corpora lutea were increased , the granulosa cell layer and endometrial layer thickened , the number of uterine glands increased , and the gland cavity expanded . Conclusion The axes of the hypothalamus , pituitary, uterus,and o -varian were morphologically changed in the RU 486-induced rat models of LPD, while BZR could improve these changes .

Objective To provide reference basis for clinical ,it is necessary to analyse the distribution and drug resistance of pathogenic bacteria isolated from intensive care unit .Methods The bacterial specimens from patients that treated in intensive care unit from January to December in 2013 ,had been collected and cultivated .The VITEK automatic bacterial identification system was performed to identify pathogens and drug susceptibility test .The software of Whonet5 .6 was used for statistically analysis .Results 1261strainsofpathogenicbacteriawereisolated,including900strainsofgramnegativebacilli,348strainsofgrampositivebac‐teria and 13 of fungi .Conclusion Gram negative bacillus is the main pathogenic bacteria in the critical patients .In order to improve the clinical efficacy ,clinical treatment should be based on the pathogenic bacteria culture and drug sensitivity test results to reasona‐bly apply antibacterial drugs .

The data were compared between the PCTIA groups and the control group using the SPSS 14.0 software.@*RESULT@#(1) The difference in pure tone threshold across 125 to 8000 Hz between the PCTIA group and the control group was not statistically significant (P>0.05); (2) In PCTIA patients, the prevalence of TEOAE was only 42.7%, significantly different from the control group; (3) The patients had longer ABR latency and wave interval than the normal controls (P<0.01).@*CONCLUSION@#Brain-stem and cochlear damage can occur in patients with PCTIA. These results suggest that OAE and ABR be used as important diagnostic test for patients with PCTIA, and might be helpful in localizing abnormality in PCTIA.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1alpha), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in laryngeal carcinoma and its relations to clinical and pathophysiological characteristics, and determine the effect of HIF-1alpha, VEGF in the processing of angiogenesis. To offer the theoretical basis for the pathogenesis of laryngeal carcinoma and the new ideas for early diagnosis of laryngeal carcinoma.@*METHOD@#The major was divided into two groups:60 specimens of laryngeal carcinoma and 20 specimens of normal tissues beside the carcinoma. The expression of HIF-1alpha, VEGF was detected in 60 specimens of laryngeal carcinoma tissues and 20 specimens of normal tissues beside the carcinoma as controls by immunohistochemical staining technique. Microvessel was stained by antifactor CD105 antibody to analyse microvessel density.@*RESULT@#Positive rate of HIF-1alpha and VEGF protein expression was 71.67% (43/60) and 65.00% (39/60) respectively in laryngeal carcinoma tissues, which was significantly higher than that in normal laryngeal tissues (10.00% and 20.00%, respectively). HIF-1alpha expression was closely related to P-TNM stage, the grade of cell differentiation and lymph node status; VEGF expression was closely related to P-TNM stage and lymph node status. The coincidence rate of the expression of HIF-1alpha and VEGF was 56.67% (34/60), showing a close relation between them. MVD was much higher in tumor with HIF-1alpha(+)/VEGF(+) than that in tumor with HIF-1alpha(--)/VEGF(--) (P < 0.01).@*CONCLUSION@#HIF-1alpha protein and VEGF was over-expressed in laryngeal carcinoma. The positive expression of HIF-1alpha, VEGF and MVD in laryngeal carcinoma have a synergistic effect on the neovascularization of the tumor.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the clinical application effects of tinnitus diagnosis and treatment process.@*METHOD@#The 1541 clinic patients with tinnitus were included in the diagnosis and treatment process. The diagnosis was clarified based on comprehensive examinations and tests. According to the characteristics of tinnitus, the patients underwent etiological treatment, drug therapy, masking therapy, sound therapy and psychological therapy, respectively, and the curative effect was evaluated.@*RESULT@#There were 781 patients received etiological treatment, where the effective rate is 86.17%. For 369 cases of acute and subacute tinnitus, the effective rate for low frequency tinnitus is 80.77% (126/156), and that for high frequency is 72.30% (154/213). For 224 cases of chronic compensated tinnitus, the effective rate of masking therapy is 79.63% (86/108), and the effective rate of sound therapy is 79.31% (92/116). For the 124 cases of chronic decompensated tinnitus, the effective rate of sound therapy combined with psychological counseling is 83.06%.@*CONCLUSION@#The utilization of tinnitus diagnosis and treatment process can give the patients of tinnitus with different characteristics satisfactory curative effects, and is suggested to be proposed for clinical application.

Objective] To investigate Bushenhuoxue method to improve the effect and mechanism of ovarian reserve, providing a theoretical basis for clinical treatment. [Methods] The intervention method to retrieve recent Bushenhuoxue premature ovarian failure and decreased ovarian reserve related literature, from theoretical research, clinical research and experimental study three aspects discussed Bushenhuoxue method to improve the effect and mechanism of ovarian reserve. [Results] Invigorating kidney on improving the exact effect of ovarian reserve. [Conclusion] In recent years Bushenhuoxue method research progress in improving ovarian function, mechanism of action has a more in-depth elucidation, but further in-depth exploration and research are stil needed.

ABSTRACT

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common digestive system neoplasms in China. Recently, the morbidity and mortality rates of CRC continue to increase with the improvement of people's living standard and the change of the dietary structure. It was accepted that the etiology of colorectal cancer is a multi-factor and multi-step process. However, the mechanism of CRC is still unclear. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of -21 nucleotide non-coding RNAs and function as a negative regulator of gene expression after transcription, participating in tumor angiogenesis, tumor cell proliferation and invasion. MicroRNA-21 (miR-21), as an important oncogenic RNA, plays a vital role in the development and progression of CRC. This review summarizes the advances in research on miR-21 in colorectal cancer.
